COMING late 2026
Welcome to Barthorn Academy
The three royal shifter families have endured loss, betrayal, and a false sense of safety. They were once proud warriors. Now they are bitter, tired, and don’t have the will to fight anymore. With their lands on the verge of being taken by their enemy once more, the hope now lies with their children to find a way to save them.
It started with Riverfang Academy, but that failed miserably. If it hadn’t been for a certain half-shifter giving up his freedom and sanity to force the enemy to pull back, the entire shifter world would have been annihilated.
Now the king and queen of Barthorn will attempt to build a new academy. Relying more on magic, rather than shifters, to keep the children safe. But the mages have warned them that magic has been changing and the control they once held is slipping. The dragon throne still sits empty, and until the heir takes his rightful place, an alliance will never happen between the families. Their enemy was thought to have perished in a fire, but through the ashes and shadows he has risen, and he is determined to not lose again.

Prequel standalone book in the same universe as the series I am in the process of creating. It sets the stage for all the current events. I cut a lot of scenes because I didn’t want to make a very long book for a prequel, and the ending changed to fit the Barthorn Academy series. However, I do plan to go back to Riverfang Academy and extend the book by at least a hundred more pages. I feel like I rushed through a few characters that I grew a soft side for and they definitely need more page time. Also, I kind of want to put those deleted scenes back in.
Synopsis for Riverfang Academy
A great alliance once stood between the shifter families. Then magic came into their lives and changed everything. When a mystical society was formed to watch over them, trust was questioned, and those alliances hang in the balance. King Baron, a human sympathizer, has vowed to protect the shifter children inside his grand castle. But even magical stone walls cannot keep out the evil that hunts from the shadows.
Rumors flood the land about a half-shifter named Leland who is said to be the shifters’ salvation. But how can one be a hero if they don’t wish to be found? He has lived safely by keeping his secrets, but now magic is changing, and the animal he keeps dormant is waking up. There will be no more hiding for him.
